So, I’ve had breakfast for dinner… far too many times. And if you’re judging me isokey but hant its my groceries. I know breakfast is meant for the morning, yes but it slaps just as good at 7p.m like at 7a.m. There’s something quite satisfying about going to bed with a full stomach after a good breakfast meal…lol.
Anyway, my laziness (duh! Why else am I advocating for breakfast as dinner) got me thinking about how many little rules we follow simply because that’s how things have always been done. We have assigned times, places and occasions to almost everything. Breakfast in the morning, dinner in the evening, certain outfits for certain events. Heaven forbid you wear that lovely dress to just go buy groceries!
But why though? Who says we can’t switch things up every now and again? If the food is good, the outfit is cute and the experience makes you happy, does the timing really matter?
I’m finding that I quite enjoy the idea of doing things a little differently. Not necessarily being rebellious or going out of my way to be unconventional, but simply allowing myself to enjoy things without overthinking how they’re supposed to be done.
Take going out, for instance. Must it always be a Friday or Saturday? Can a random Tuesday afternoon not be reason enough to have a nice lunch, dress up a little or visit somewhere new? Should a holiday getaway always be in December? Take those leave days and go get fresh air…libalele ngoNhlolanja oe! Why do we keep saving our favourite things for occasions that sometimes take forever to arrive? – ngani singaze sife nje.
Anyway, I’m not sure who needs to hear this, but eggs and toast are not reserved only for the morning shift. They can clock in for supper, too. And quite frankly, they do a wonderful job!
Don’t tell me you’ve never had breakfast for lunch chomee 👀
Love & light 🧡
