This week, I was roaming the streets of LinkedIn, one of my now most-used apps. Ukukhula kulamanyala! Who else now spends just as much time, if not more, on “serious” apps like LinkedIn as they do on Instagram or whatever app it is that you spend most time on?
Anyway, while catching up on what my peers are doing and learning a thing or two, dhuma dhuma!a sustainability campaign by Schweppes Zimbabwe. And honestly, I like what they’re doing.
Their message is simple: Your bottle. Your responsibility. Don’t litter.
I like that they’re encouraging people to enjoy their products while taking responsibility for what happens to the packaging afterwards. Because yes, companies can play their part, but so can we.

In my own words, I THINK bathi bona: TSHIYANI UBUTSHAPHA! Let’s stop littering, bantu. 😭
Because why are we throwing bottles out of moving cars? Why is the bin right there, but the sweet wrapper looks better on the ground? And that person who finishes their takeaways, opens the car window and releases a whole pizza box into the wild? We need to talk.
I’m not judging you, but I am sooo judging you, and futhi anghleki.
But seriously, carrying your rubbish until you find a bin costs you absolutely nothing. Keep it in your bag, your car or your hand for a few more minutes.
A cleaner environment isn’t only about what big companies do. It’s also about the small things we choose to do when nobody is watching.
Anyway, that’s my little public service announcement for today. Schweppes has said its part, and I’ve said mine. The rest is between you and that empty bottle in your hand. 👀
If this post has made you think twice before littering, my work here is done. If it hasn’t, at least subscribe to the blog. We can continue this conversation there by the comment section 😂
Love and light 🧡
